Hi, I’m Kai! I’m a freshman mechanical engineering student at Carnegie Mellon University, originally from New York City. I’ve always loved building things, whether it’s designing a robot, experimenting with solar powered systems for shark conservation, or perfecting a new fried rice recipe in the kitchen.

I first got into robotics back in fifth grade and eventually co-founded my own FTC team, which grew from four friends to over thirty members and went on to win dozens of awards across NYC. I’ve also had the chance to explore engineering beyond the classroom, researching computer vision systems at NYU, designing shark barriers and sonar-based underwater cameras for marine conservation, and teaching the first robotics course at my high school.

Outside of engineering, I’m into photography, surfing, and cooking. Check out my photography on instagram or on the photography page of this site!
